Why does AI Overview say permanently closed when I am open?

AI Overview and Google Maps do not always update on the same clock. Merchants often mark the Business Profile as open, see correct hours in Maps, and still find an AI Overview sentence that says permanently closed.

What to check

• Exact overview wording. Copy the AI Overview text that claims closed—do not paraphrase.
• Business Profile status and hours. Confirm Maps shows Open with the hours you expect.
• Third-party citations. Directories and articles that still say closed can feed overview language.
• Temporary vs permanent. Past “temporarily closed” notices left on the web confuse summarizers.
